Artistic enough for adults and comprehensible and entertaining enough for kids, Jungle Book is a lovely piece and a solid retelling of the Kipling stories. Mary Zimmerman's adaptation is easy to follow, and with the help of Doug Peck's superb orchestrations, using native instruments of India, enjoyable to hear.
In February 2013, THE JUNGLE BOOK Director/Adapter Mary Zimmerman and Music Director Doug Peck held a music workshop which united six Chicago swing/jazz musicians with six Indian instrumentalists to fuse songs to create a sound unique to this production.
